Scientific Name: Arothron immaculatus
Family: Tetraodontidae (Pufferfishes)
Common Names: Immaculate puffer, spotless puffer
Found throughout the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea, East Africa, Southeast Asia, and as far east as Micronesia and northern Australia.
Medium-sized pufferfish, growing up to 30 cm (about 12 inches).
Pale grayish to brownish body, often lacking distinct markings — hence the name "immaculatus" (Latin for "spotless" or "unspotted").
Body shape is typical of Arothron puffers: rounded, inflatable, with small eyes and no scales.
Prefers sandy or muddy substrates in coastal lagoons, estuaries, and seagrass beds.
Usually found at shallow depths, often less than 20 meters.
Omnivorous but mainly carnivorous—feeds on benthic invertebrates, crustaceans, and mollusks, often using its strong beak-like teeth to crush shells.
