The Fuscus Triggerfish is a bold and impressive species known for its intricate blue markings, yellow accents and powerful personality. Its coloration changes considerably with age, becoming deeper and more dramatic as the fish matures.
This is a hardy, intelligent fish that quickly learns to recognize its keeper and usually becomes an aggressive feeder. Offer a varied diet of meaty foods, including shrimp, krill, squid, clams and other marine-based preparations. Hard-shelled foods are beneficial for naturally wearing down its continuously growing teeth.
The Fuscus Trigger can reach approximately 22 inches and becomes increasingly territorial as it grows. It requires a very large aquarium with substantial rockwork, open swimming space and securely positioned decorations. It should be housed only with other large, assertive fish and may attack smaller fish or newly introduced tankmates. It is not reef-safe and will eat crustaceans, mollusks and other invertebrates.
